Perfectfit Launches Menstrual Cup as a Sustainable Period Care Alternative
Bali, Indonesia – 5 May 2025
Perfectfit, a women-led startup from Indonesia focused on sustainable period care, is proud to introduce its newest product: the Perfectfit Menstrual Cup. This innovation offers a comfortable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective solution for menstrual health, designed especially for women in Indonesia and across Asia.
Following the successful launch of Indonesia’s first menstrual underwear and reusable pads in 2022, and biodegradable bamboo pads in 2024, Perfectfit now adds a menstrual cup to its product line. This product is made for those seeking a long-term period solution that’s low-waste, body-safe, and budget-friendly.

Available in two sizes – Small (20 ml) and Large (30 ml) – the Perfectfit Menstrual Cup provides up to 12 hours of leak protection and lasts up to 10 years. Made from 100% medical-grade silicone, it’s BPA-free, fragrance-free, and free from harsh chemicals, making it ideal for sensitive skin while also reducing environmental waste.
1.4 Billion Pads Thrown Away Every Month – The Hidden Waste Behind Periods in Indonesia
According to research from IPB University (2022), Indonesia’s 67 million women of reproductive age generate an estimated 1.4 billion used pads every month. Based on Perfectfit’s own analysis, that adds up to 8–15 billion pads dumped every year in Indonesia alone.
With 90% of disposable pads made of plastic, one pack is equal to about four plastic bags, and these take hundreds of years to break down. Along the way, they release methane gas and microplastics that harm the environment.
Indonesia is one of the top five contributors to 50% of the world’s ocean plastic pollution, alongside China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. Around 80% of that waste comes from land (The Veolia Institute Review, 2019).
By switching from disposable pads to a menstrual cup, just one person can save up to 2,400 pads or period products over 10 years, a small change with a big impact on both the wallet and the planet.
Busting Myths and Breaking Stigma
Despite the clear environmental and financial benefits, menstrual cup use in Indonesia remains low. A 2023 survey from Frontiers, Sustainable Consumption found that fewer than 1% of women in Indonesia (n = 2,031) have ever tried one, even though 63.9% express interest to try.
The main barriers? Discomfort during the first use, lack of access to reliable information, and ongoing cultural fears around virginity, fertility, and menstruation taboos (Frontiers, Sustainable Consumption, 2023).
With the launch of its cup, Perfectfit hopes to spark change: through honest education and inclusive, fact-based conversations that make everyone feel seen and supported.
Social Impact Through #MenstruasiRamah
As a mission-driven company led by women, Perfectfit is committed to supporting menstrual health and wellbeing across Indonesia and Asia. Through the #MenstruasiRamah movement, Perfectfit donates 5% of every sale to provide menstrual products and education to underserved communities. This initiative makes Perfectfit a pioneer in combining menstrual health, social justice, and environmental sustainability, all for a more equal, supported future.
