Perfect Fit and Wood School Bali: Partnering for Puberty Education and Student Wellbeing

Bali, 14 October 2024

Perfect Fit is excited to announce a recent collaboration with Wood School Bali that brought valuable education and support to students as they navigate puberty. Through our collaborative workshops focused on menstruation and mental health, students  are gaining the tools they need to manage these important changes with confidence.

What we did?

In August, we held a heartwarming session with the parents at Wood School Bali, focusing on how to create a period-friendly environment for their daughters. The conversation was all about making menstruation a positive experience, rather than something to be embarrassed about. Thanks to the school's proactive approach, they purchased 40 pairs of Perfect Fit period underwear and reusable pads for their students - ensuring they are well-prepared and supported, and asked Perfect Fit to implement deep dive puberty education for their teenage students !

In September, we took things into action by holding a special Puberty, Menstruation, and Mental Health session for the students. We led separate, interactive discussions for 6 boys and 6 girls aged 9-13, making sure each group felt comfortable asking questions and learning in their own space.

How we did it?

Our workshop with the students was designed to be practical and engaging. Here's what we covered:

  • How to support young people to  grasp the physical, emotional, and social changes they’ll experience puberty.
  • How to take care of our mental and physical well-being including topics like nutrition, sleep, hygiene, and protection from reproductive infections.
  • Sharing further with them  them about bullying, sexual harassment, sexual assault and how to protect themselves.
  • Recognizing signs of stress, anxiety, and the importance of mental well-being during puberty.

We used clear, easy-to-understand language and provided real-life examples to help them relate to these important topics. Each group was led by an experienced educator - ensuring a comfortable, safe environment for open conversations.

Why are workshops like these so important?

Recently, puberty is happening earlier than ever for many young girls around the world, with the average age dropping from 10.5 to 9.5 years. Early puberty can bring many challenges, from hormonal changes to bullying and unwanted attention, which can significantly impact mental health.

Schools like Wood School Bali are stepping up to address these issues head-on. Offering educational sessions like this one helps students understand the changes they are experiencing, and encourages them to make healthier choices, both physically and mentally. Having the right information early on can prevent misunderstandings and help create a more supportive school environment.

The path forward

Our partnership with Wood School Bali is just one example of how communities can come together to support young people through life’s changes. We are inspired by their commitment to empowering students and look forward to working with more schools to spread period positivity and mental health awareness.

If your school is interested in partnering with us for similar workshops, feel free to reach out to us at hello@perfectfit.co.id. Let’s work together to create #MenstruasiRamah or Period Friendly world, where a supportive and educational space is there for people with periods, including  students in schools.
