When Girls Lift Each Other Up: Perfectfit x Gals Skate

When girls lift each other up, amazing things happen - on skateboards and beyond.
This was the spirit of Gals Skate Day 2024 at Motion Skatepark on November 9, 2024, and Perfectfit was proud to support the Gals Skate community to make it even more impactful. In this collaboration, we created a space where skateboarding is safe for girls, and conversations about periods become normal - proving that breaking barriers often starts with understanding and support.
Perfectfit x Gals Skate Bali: A Shared Mission
For many young girls, managing periods isn’t just a physical challenge - it can also affect confidence. This happened especially in sports like skateboarding, where the majority of communities are led by men and movement and focus are key. Hormonal changes before and during a period can influence how girls feel, move, and perform. It may also deter them from being confident in continuing to excel in their sports activities. Acknowledging these challenges, our collaboration is about creating no limits for girls; it’s about normalizing period conversations, offering body & earth friendly solutions, and encouraging girls to adapt and keep going.

That’s why this collaboration between Perfectfit and Gals Skate is a perfect match. While Gals Skate nurtures confidence and skills through mentorship and inclusive competitions led by Rodi (a female skater), Perfectfit provides practical support by promoting period positive education and sustainable solutions.
Small Moments, Big Impact
One small moment from the competition day stood out as a reminder of how powerful a sisterhood can be. Rodi led the girls to play a “product toss game”, a lively activity where all goodies were thrown into the crowd. Selma, a nine-year-old girl skater, caught one of Perfectfit’s Organic Bamboo Pad boxes. Confused, she looked to her friends, the older girls around her for guidance.
Without hesitation, two of them came over, put their arms around her, and gently explained what the sanitary product was for. Though Selma didn’t need it yet, they encouraged her to keep it. “It’s good to be prepared,” they told her with a smile.

What could have been awkward turned into something beautiful: a conversation that felt normal, supportive, and empowering. Later, Selma’s mom shared how much it meant to see her daughter treated with such kindness and respect.
This happened because those older girls had attended our puberty education session led by our Co-founder, Riesa, earlier this year at the Girls Skate Camp. That knowledge, combined with their natural compassion and care for friends, made them role models in their own right - proof that education and community go hand in hand.
Building Confidence Through Care
At Gals Skate Day, there were no awkward moments - just girls of all ages cheering each other on, sharing stories, and showing support in small but meaningful ways. Parents joined the excitement, younger kids looked up to the teens, and the day was filled with laughter and encouragement.

Perfectfit is proud to be part of these milestones, helping create a space where girls can thrive without hesitation. Skateboarding may have been the day’s focus, but the message went beyond the skatepark: confidence and support go hand in hand.
Here’s to more moments like this - where barriers are broken, and women & girls keep supporting and lifting each other higher.
